Part of an incredibly sweet story (and loads more beguiling than Barbie), this hand-stitched doll is part of a collection made by Sri Lankan women who faithfully recreate drawings made by local children in grades 1-3.  Part of a social design project in which women, irrespective of religion and caste, can help improve their lives, the dolls are made from 100% cotton, non-toxic dyes, and under fair trade standards. The brainchild of the Hamburg-based designer, Alexa Lixfeld, the dolls can be purchased here.
